Frequently Asked Questions

Labour for most jobs starts from £20–£60 depending on the repair (see the full price list), and parts are quoted separately. Windows installation is £80 with your files kept (where that's technically possible), or £50 for a clean install (data erased). Both use your existing, valid Windows licence — a new licence isn't included. The diagnostic is free and you get an itemised quote before I start.

Yes, always — even if you decide not to go ahead with the repair. I check every device at no charge and you get a breakdown of what's wrong and what it'll cost before I do anything.

1-year workmanship warranty on the repair itself, and 2 years on any new parts I supply. Components you supply yourself aren't covered by a parts warranty from me, but my workmanship on fitting them still is.

For most repairs — screen, keyboard, battery, RAM — your files stay untouched. If I need to replace your drive or do a clean Windows install, data will be lost — I'll tell you before any step like that. I don't make a backup unless we agree it beforehand, so please back up anything important first. Data recovery is available as a separate service: success isn't guaranteed, the price depends on the case and you'll know it before I start.

Yes — you can supply compatible parts and I'll fit them. I'll check compatibility first. Parts you provide don't carry a parts warranty from me, but my workmanship is still covered.

No — I work on Windows PCs and laptops, and I clean and maintain PS4, PS5 and Xbox consoles. MacBooks and iMacs need Apple-specific parts and tools I don't carry.

Yes. SSD and RAM upgrades are some of the most common jobs I do. I check compatibility with your machine first, then fit and test the upgrade. If an old hard drive or too little memory is what's slowing the machine down, the difference is usually clear. If an upgrade won't help, I'll tell you before you spend anything.

Yes — cleaning and maintenance for PS4, PS5 and Xbox: clearing dust from the fan and heatsink and, where needed, replacing the thermal compound, then testing the console before handover. I don't repair or replace HDMI or other ports, and I don't do motherboard or soldering repairs. The diagnosis is free and you get a quote before I start.
